Marianne og Beth – søstrene Lehner
Marianne og Beth Lehner har begge boet på Christiania. Marianne vil nogle kunne
huske fra Solvognens gadeteater, Cirkusteltet og Månefiskerens kabaretter.
De har begge malet og tegnet fra små – både hver for sig og sammen og også på
samme billede – men altid med hver sit udtryk.
Ferniseringen afholdes i Loppebygning Midt,
lørdag d. 7. juli kl. 15.

Udstillingen ”Marianne og Beth – søstrene Lehner” er realisering af en gammel
drøm om at udstille sammen.
Gallopperiet lå lige til højrebenet. Søstrene har boet sammen på Dyssen i
Christianias barndom.
Nu er de begge blevet bedstemødre og bor i henholdsvis Allerød og Svendborg,
men er stadig de samme eksperimenterende billedmagere og drømmere om et
bedre samfund. Tiden på Christiania med hjertevarme, vildskab og idérigdom er
en del af deres dna.
Som søskende har de samme brogede opvækst med skolegang i Uruguay, Chile,
Sydtyskland og Danmark. Disse forskellige kulturer har lagt grundstenene til deres
kunst.
Marianne maler fortrinsvis akvarel og croquis. Kombinationen akvarel-croquis er
blevet en passion, fordi man tvinges til at koble hjernen fra, når det væsentlige
skal udtrykkes i få streger på kort tid. Det får billederne til at fremstå
ekspressionistisk.
Marianne har udstillet på Marienlyst Slot sammen med croquisholdet fra Nivågård
Kunstmuseum. De udstillede igen i maj i år.
Beth er autodidakt og maler både akryl og olie på lærred, men er pt. meget
optaget af den sort/hvide kunst – grafikken.
Beths farveglæde og hendes motivvalg har synlige rødder i søstrenes barndom i
Sydamerika. Inspirationen hentes både i hverdagen, fra rejser, fra kunsthistorien
og fra filosofien.

Marianne and Beth – the Lehner sisters
Marianne and Beth Lehner both lived in Christiania in the early seventies.
Some will still remember Marianne from the street theatre Solvognen, from
Christiania’s Circus Tent and from the cabarets in Maanefiskeren.
They both love drawing and painting since childhood – separately, together or
even on the same picture – but always with their individual expressions.

We are looking forward to seeing our families as well as old and new playmates to
open the exhibition.

The exhibition “Marianne and Beth – the Lehner sisters” is the first time they
exhibit together. An old dream has come true.
Galloperiet is the perfect context. The sisters have both lived in The Free State in
Christiania’s childhood in the early seventies.
Now they are grandmothers and live in Alleroed and Svendborg, but they are still
the same experimenting creators of images and still dreaming of a better society.
The time spent in Christiania with “love peace and understanding”, wild youth and
creativity is part of their DNA.
Having shared the same growing up attending schools in Uruguay and Chile,
Southern Germany and Denmark, different cultures are the fundament of their art.
At the time being Marianne mostly does waterpaint and croquis. Combining the
techniques has become a passion because the short time available to catch and
draw the essential expression and movement forces you to disconnect your brain.
Which gives the paintings an expressionist touch.
Marianne has had exhibitions at the Castle of Marienlyst with other pupils from the
croquis course at Nivaagaard Art Museum.
Beth is an autodidact painter. She paints acrylics as well as oil on canvas. Lately
she experiments with the black and white art of printing.
Beth’s passion for colors and her motifs have roots in their childhood in South
America. Inspiration comes from daily life, travels, history of art and philosophy.
